Everything you need to know about travelling with children
Travelling with children on Eurostar
We understand that taking your tiny explorers on tour comes with unique challenges. That’s why we’re here to help everything go smoothly when you bring the kids.
Travelling with children
Children under 4 years old
Children under 4 travel for free and without a ticket. However, they must sit on an adult’s lap throughout the journey.
Child tickets are available to purchase if:
- you’d prefer your child to have their own seat.
- you’re travelling alone with more than one tot in tow.
Remember, kids of any age need their own passport or documentation to travel.

In Eurostar Standard or Eurostar Plus, fares for children between 4 and 11 years old are discounted by:

Children aged 12 to 15 (inclusive) can travel with a responsible person aged 16 or over. Or they can travel as an unaccompanied minor but must have the correct paperwork.
Children’s facilities on board
Pushchairs
In addition to your luggage allowance, you can take a pushchair on board free of charge. It needs to be folded before boarding and stored in one of the baggage racks near your seat.
Family seating
If there's space, you can choose to sit around a table and spread out the colouring books or get stuck into a game on the way.
Baby changing
All of our trains have baby-changing facilities. On our trains between France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany, they’re in coaches 7, 17, and 27.
If you'd like to sit nearby, visit Manage your booking and choose your seats once you've booked.
Children’s meals
To and from London
If you are travelling in Eurostar Plus or Eurostar Premier, you can request a child’s meal. Visit Manage your booking at least 24 hours before travel to let us know.
Between France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany
Child-friendly options are available at Eurostar Café. We don't sell baby food, but we're happy to help by warming yours up.
On all our routes
We’re always happy to warm up any baby bottles at Eurostar Café.
Under 18s
Anyone under the age of 18 travels under the responsibility of their parents, guardians, or other persons whom the parents have authorised.
Parents or guardians must make sure their child or teenager possesses the necessary travel documents.
Unaccompanied travellers under 18 will need additional documentation. Please read the under 18s section on our travel documents page. We also strongly recommend checking the latest government advice for both the departure and destination countries.
