Paris in the spring

A guide to Paris in the springtime

Paris in the spring is an ideal getaway with its stunning parks and gardens, boulangeries and museums. Paris is especially beautiful in the middle of March when you can see the first cherry tree blossoms come to life in front of the Eiffel Tower. Grab a seat at one of Paris’s many cafés to people-watch or take a stroll in the Luxembourg Gardens, a fine spot for family-friendly activities or a picnic.

If the weather takes a turn, you can visit the underground passages of the Paris catacombs, or go for a bite to eat in one of the best bakeries or restaurants in the city. Enjoy a family Easter break in Paris and head to Disneyland® Paris for the day or visit an immersive museum or urban zoo. Here are some recommendations of things to do in Paris in the spring and the best places to stay.

Things to do in Paris in the spring

Explore Jardin du Luxembourg

If you want to experience the beauty of springtime in Paris take a stroll to Jardin du Luxembourg, the second largest public park in the city. The Tuileries may be the bigger name, but this former royal garden is one of Parisians’ favourite places to stroll, bask, lunch, or even jog. The artificial pond behind the palace is especially popular for its miniature wooden sailboats, available to rent on Wednesday afternoons and weekends.

Enjoy foodie delights

If you love browsing food markets for delicious ingredients, there are plenty of great markets to explore in Paris. Get stocked up for your spring picnic or pick up some tasty easily transportable cheeses, flavoured oils, mustards and pâtés. If you're more about tasting mouth-watering pastries or crusty baguettes, Paris has some of the best bakeries in Europe. Gourmets will find no shortage of good restaurants for eating out in Paris, with prices for every budget.

Discover the capital of culture

You'll never run out of amazing things to see in Paris, no matter how many times you visit. Whether you just want to wander the streets soaking up the history and culture, visit the world-class museums or scare yourself silly in the winding underground passages of the Paris catacombs, Paris has it all.

Spring is a great time to visit as queues are generally shorter and the city is less crowded compared to summer.

Hit the shops

Paris is probably slightly more expensive for shopping than London, depending on the exchange rate. However, with fewer high-street shops and more independent boutiques, you have a much better chance of finding something a bit different.

Vintage shops are great for finding unique items at bargain prices and French 'pharmacies' can be a treasure trove of high-quality skincare brands to discover.

Family Easter breaks in Paris

Easter in Paris is ideal for a family holiday. From beautiful parks and urban zoos to horseback riding and immersive museums. Or If you fancy a day trip, why not visit the magic kingdom of Disneyland Paris® at Easter weekend as it's only 30 minutes away.
