Borders are changing: travel to/from London

The EU will introduce a new Entry/Exit System (EES) at a date yet to be confirmed. This border requirement will apply to non-EU nationals travelling to the EU. We’re getting ready and will have more info on our website in due course. For now, you can find out more here.

Your Lille Europe station guide

Lille Europe is just a short walk from the city centre, as well as Lille Flandres station and the Euralille shopping centre. There are different departure processes at Lille Europe depending on whether you’re travelling to London or Brussels. You'll find everything you need to know below.

Departure guide for travel to London

When to arrive

When leaving for London, your luggage and passport will be checked before you board.

For a smooth, stress-free departure, please arrive at the station at the time recommended on your ticket.

Find out more about our recommended arrival times.

Ticket checks

When you arrive at the Eurostar ticket booth or gates, simply scan the barcode on your paper ticket or on your mobile. You need to scan each ticket individually. If you don’t scan your ticket, there’s a chance your seat will be given to someone else.

Eurostar has two types of train – each with different seating capacities. Sometimes, we have to switch the trains scheduled to run, which means we have to reallocate seats. In such cases, you may be allocated a different seat number by a member of our team or when you scan your ticket at the gate. Please ensure you hold on to your new seat information as you’ll need it to find your seat when you board. Tickets issued by other carriers may not have a barcode, so you'll need to speak to a member of our team.

Passport/border control

Your passport will be checked twice – first by French authorities and then by UK Border Force.

Eurostar departure lounge

In the Eurostar departure lounge you’ll find the following facilities:

  • A Relay shop
  • Toilets with baby-changing facilities
  • Wi-fi
  • Vending machines (for drinks and snacks)

  • A children’s play area

Eurostar Premier area

  • Comfortable seating for working or relaxing
  • A self-service coffee machine

Boarding will be announced around 15 minutes before departure.
